Nepali Students’ ‘The Miracle Workers’ leading the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2012 software design

Microsoft has been organizing ‘Imagine Cup’ yearly from a decade. The competition  featuring different categories like software design, gaming, windows apps, windows azure is a worldwide competition and this time it features in about 70 countries. A Nepali student Parbati Sanjel from Winona State University has participated in Microsoft Imagine Cup 2012 US.

Parbati Sanjel’s team was nominated in the National Finals of the US edition of the Cup. Her team The miracle Workers comprises of Chase Lundstrom and Tauseef Hemayet from her university. Tauseef is a Bangladeshi fellow.

The team has designed a sleeping pad for infants to help prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and other respiratory diseases. The sleeping pad monitors the infant’s heartbeat, breathing and movement, sending the data to a PC which in turn sends alerts via a Windows Phone application using Microsoft Visual Studio. The Miracle Workers topic has been highly praised and they are currently places in the 1st position in US. On April 20, the team will travel to Seattle, Wash., to compete in the U.S. finals. Two of the 10 competing teams will advance to the world finals in July in Sydney, Australia.

Just anyone who has the better ideas on programming or other related areas can go with rules of the Imagine Cup in their official page and participate in this event making their own team.
