Kathmandu. Buddha Air, a leading private airline company, has started regular commercial flights with its new series ‘ATR 72-600’. <\/p>\n
The aircraft with call sign ‘9N-AOS’ made its first commercial flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj carrying 66 passengers at 8:06 am on Friday. <\/p>\n
The aircraft was brought from Toulouse of France on July 25 after completing the necessary technical and regulatory process. <\/p>\n
Equipped with full glass cockpit, digital flight management and modern navigation system, the aircraft is equipped with RNP-AR technology, making it easy for taking off and landing safely even in low visibility. <\/p>\n
With less environmental fuel consumption and less noise pollution, the aircraft has a wider passenger seat and overhead bins than the previous series. <\/p>\n
At present, Buddha Air has a total of 15 aircraft in operation, including 14 ATR-72-500 and 1 ATR-72-600. The company is planning to bring one more ATR-72-600 aircraft in the near future. <\/p>\n
Buddha Air operates more than 140 domestic flights daily and also conducts international flights to Varanasi and Kolkata, India. <\/p>\n
Cheap fare and free relief transportation until the festival<\/strong><\/p>\n }<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the airline has decided to operate flights at minimum and cheap fares till Dashain, Tihar and Chhath festivals after the highway was disrupted due to floods in Rasuwa and other areas on August 26. <\/p>\n Speaking on the occasion, Executive Chairman of Buddha Air, Birendra Bahadur Basnet, said that it was the responsibility of the airline to provide an easy alternative to the passengers during the time of natural disaster. <\/p>\n Even though the price of aviation fuel has increased by 96 percent to Rs 249 per liter in the last seven months, the airline has increased the fare for Kathmandu-Bhairahawa by only 14 percent to Rs 6,500. <\/p>\n The Company has so far supplied 7,322 kg of relief materials free of cost from various districts of the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Kathmandu.
