{"id":100619,"date":"2026-09-07T17:21:34","date_gmt":"2026-09-07T11:36:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kalopati.com\/?p=100619"},"modified":"2026-09-07T17:25:05","modified_gmt":"2026-09-07T11:40:05","slug":"president-calls-for-continuity-of-search-and-rescue-of-people-missing-in-disaster-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/english.kalopati.com\/news\/100619","title":{"rendered":"President calls for continuity of search and rescue of people missing in disaster"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Poudel has urged the government and the concerned bodies to continue the search and rescue of the people missing in the natural disaster. <\/p>\n<p>In his address to the nation on Monday, President Poudel said the catastrophic floods along with glacial ice and rocks caused a huge loss of life and property. <\/p>\n<p>He expressed his confidence that the search and rescue operations of the missing people would be successful at the earliest. <\/p>\n<p>President Poudel appreciated the contributions of Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, health workers, local representatives, employees, volunteers and different organizations for their contribution in the rescue and relief efforts. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Difficult geographical conditions, damaged roads and unstable and risky situation should not be used as reasons to halt the search and rescue of the disappeared people,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Difficult geographical conditions, damaged roads and unstable and risky conditions should not be a reason to obstruct or abandon the search and rescue operations of missing people,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n<p>He also expressed sorrow over the foreign nationals who lost their lives in the disaster and pledged to work together with the governments and diplomatic missions of the concerned countries. <\/p>\n<p>President Poudel stressed the need to ensure access to food, clean drinking water, safe shelter, medical treatment and psychosocial services to the rescued citizens. He said that children, senior citizens, people with disabilities, pregnant women and other vulnerable people need special protection. <\/p>\n<p>He also stressed on the need to identify the deceased with caution, sensitivity and responsibility. He said that the identification process should be made credible and systematic by keeping DNA samples and other records safe as per the requirement. <\/p>\n<p>President Poudel said that the people who have lost their homeless, displaced and relatives due to natural disasters need the support and trust of the state. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I urge the government and all bodies concerned to take the victims&#8217; complaints and demands not in the form of criticism, but as an important signal for their solution,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n<p>President Poudel said that the recent disaster has highlighted the fragile state of the Himalayan ecology and the risks posed by rising global temperatures. He called on the international community to take concrete steps to ensure climate justice for ecologically affected countries, including Nepal. <\/p>\n<p>He called on the political parties, people&#8217;s representatives, civil society, organisations involved in humanitarian relief and rescue operations, private sector, business community and the general public to unite at this time of disaster. <\/p>\n<p>He said that the time ahead should focus on reconstruction, rehabilitation and economic recovery and also rethink the development model.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Poudel has urged the government and the concerned bodies to continue the search and rescue of the people missing in the natural disaster.
