Kathmandu. On the first trading day of the week, the stock market fell sharply on Sunday. KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index posted a sharp fall on Thursday. <\/p>\n
As of 1:27 pm, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index decreased by 97.61 points to close at 2,684.42 points. All the sub-group indices have turned red due to the increase in panic sales in the market. Shares worth Rs 7.84 billion were traded in the market till 1:30 pm. <\/p>\n
According to NEPSE, the share prices of most of the companies traded have fallen. In particular, the share prices of Narayani Development Bank and Himalayan Reinsurance Company fell by 10 percent. Except for a few companies that have recently issued IPOs, most of the other companies have lost their investors. <\/p>\n
The main reason for this sharp fall in the market is that the government has intensified its investigation into money laundering.
