Kathmandu. The 21-hour talks between the United States and Iran in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad ended without any concrete agreement. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Vice President J.D. Vance said the talks were “very serious” but ultimately did not reach a conclusion. <\/p>\n

He said that while the US has made clear its position and flexibility in its positions, Iran has not accepted US terms. According to Vance, the failure to reach this deal is much worse news for Iran than for the United States. <\/p>\n

During the talks, the US team sought clear commitments from Iran that it would not build nuclear weapons and that it would not acquire the technology and equipment needed for it. Vance said he was “very flexible” in his negotiations and was “going back home” after leaving the US “last and best” offer to Iran. Throughout the talks, the US team has been in constant communication with President Donald Trump, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Treasury Secretary Scott Besant. <\/p>\n

Meanwhile, CNN quoted Iran’s Foreign Ministry as saying that the marathon talks mainly covered the security of the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear program. The talks have been stalled because the US has not shown readiness to accept Iran’s terms.
