Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Court has filed a charge-sheet against medical entrepreneur Durga Prasad Prasai on the charge of electronic transaction act. <\/p>\n
The District Government Attorney’s Office, Kathmandu has demanded punishment against Prasai as per Section 47 (1) (1) of the Electronic Transaction Act, 2063. As per the provision, the offender can be fined up to Rs 100,000 or imprisoned for up to five years or both. <\/p>\n
Likewise, the court has also demanded further punishment as per Clause 47 (20) of the same Act and compensation fee to the Victim Relief Fund as per the Crime Victims Protection Act, 2075 BS. <\/p>\n
According to the chargesheet, Prasain had made misleading and provocative statements regarding the upcoming elections through social media (Facebook). The police investigation has revealed that he had spoken against the election scheduled for March 4, 2002, tried to spread enmity saying that the country would split if the election was held and violated the election code of conduct, 2082. <\/p>\n
Prasain had posted videos on Facebook saying that he would not allow elections to be held until monarchy and Hindu state were established and that if elections were held, there would be unrest in the country.
