Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) general secretary and former Health Minister Pradeep Poudel has drawn the attention of the government towards the plight of patients due to non-availability of OPD services at the government hospitals during public holidays for some time. <\/p>\n
General Secretary Poudel said that the OPD service has limited the access to health services that should be accessible and accessible to all and has added financial burden to the patients. <\/p>\n
According to him, the Ministry of Health and Population has forwarded a process to provide service continuously even on public holidays by encouraging doctors and health workers who worked overtime during his tenure in the past. <\/p>\n
He said that reforms like operating the OPD service in two shifts and increasing the service duration have been initiated keeping in mind the pressure of service seekers in the government hospitals. <\/p>\n
According to him, a study report has been prepared and implemented to provide additional incentive allowance to doctors and health workers as the health service is a specialized service. In order to meet the shortage of doctors and health workers in the hospitals, the process of adding 2500 new human resources in the first phase has been taken to the final stage. <\/p>\n
He said that the entire health system would be citizen-friendly only by encouraging the private sector to provide quality services to the general public in an easy and easy manner through government hospitals and health institutions. He pointed out the need of a policy to further expand the service on a sensitive issue like health rather than depriving citizens of service. <\/p>\n
He urged the government to make health services more effective, accessible and citizen-oriented by giving continuity to the issues of overall reforms initiated by them.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
