Kathmandu. The Tribhuvan University (TU) has given a 35-day ultimatum to the cricket stadium on its premises to vacate it. TU had issued a 35-day notice on April 19 to bring back the encroached land. A cricket stadium is also included in it. <\/p>\n
After the 35-day notice, TU has sent separate letters to all the bodies that have used the TU land to vacate the premises. The General Administration Division of the Tribhuvan University Registrar’s Office has also sent a letter to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN). The TU-CAN agreement is expiring by the end of April. <\/p>\n
“We have written to all the bodies as part of the process of reclaiming the encroached land. We have also sent a letter to CAN,” an official of the Administration Division told Onlinekhabar, “The agreement with CAN is expiring from this mid-January.” \u2019<\/p>\n
According to an official, TU is not in favor of making an agreement with CAN this time. “The study and research work has been affected for months due to big games. We are not in favor of compromising this time,” the official said, “We have given 35 days to vacate the premises.” The cricket ground is also included in it. \u2019<\/p>\n
According to Raj Bahadur Rai, chief of the General Administration Division, letters have been issued to 18 associations, organizations and organizations asking them to vacate within 35 days. According to him, the letter was issued as per the report of the Land Search Committee. “We have already issued a public notice on April 4. After that, a letter has also been issued to the organizations and organizations,” he said. <\/p>\n
However, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) spokesperson Chhumbi Lama said that they have not received the letter. According to a TU official, it might have taken time for the letter to reach as yesterday and today were public holidays. <\/p>\n
However, the board meeting of CAN has decided to write to TU to renew it. The CAN board meeting held on April 23 decided to request the government through the National Sports Council to extend the contract agreement. <\/p>\n
“The meeting decided to request the government of Nepal through the National Sports Council to extend the contract term of Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground and hand over the Lower Mulpani Cricket Ground, which is currently under the National Sports Council, to the association,” the CAN decision reads. <\/p>\n
The government has also approved a master plan to construct the TU ground as an international standard cricket stadium. The master plan was approved by the then Prime Minister Sushila Karki. As per the master plan, it is estimated that around Rs 10 billion will be required for the construction of the stadium. Earlier, the then Prime Ministers KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal had invested in the construction of the cricket ground. <\/p>\n
But the rest of the construction process has been in confusion after TU asked to vacate the ground. <\/p>\n
According to the report of the TU Land Search Committee, 2081 BS, around 1,000 ropanis of land has been encroached upon in Kirtipur alone. <\/p>\n
The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police and District Administration Office have recommended action against those involved in encroachment. <\/p>\n
