Kathmandu. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case against 13 individuals including former finance minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, former finance secretary Shankar Adhikari and a company for their alleged involvement in the construction of Pokhara Regional International Airport. <\/p>\n
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has named former finance minister Karki and former secretaries Shankar Prasad Adhikari and Maheshwor Neupane as defendants in the case. The case has also been filed against the then joint-secretaries Kewal Prasad Bhandari, Suresh Acharya and Dandu Raj Ghimire, the then Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) Sanjiv Gautam and Pradip Adhikari, and the Chinese company CMC and its representatives. <\/p>\n
Assistant Spokesperson of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari said that the corruption case was filed against them for providing tax exemption to the Chinese contractor China CMC Engineering Company Limited during the construction of the airport. According to a press release issued by the CIAA, a claim of Rs 3.62 billion has been levied against them. <\/p>\n
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a corruption case on December 7 naming five ministers as defendants. On March 8, the CIAA had filed a case against the corruption in the construction of Pokhara Airport. This is the third case filed today. <\/p>\n
