Kathmandu. Two Nepali girls have been rescued from the Sonagachi red light area in Kolkata, India. <\/p>\n
They were rescued and brought back to Nepal safely at the initiative of Kina India, an organization working against human trafficking. The rescued girls are 14 and 15 years old from Nuwakot district. <\/p>\n
According to Naveen Joshi, director of Qin India, the girls were trafficked and held captive in the red-light area of Sonagachhi. They were rescued safely with the active initiative of the organization and coordination with the Indian authorities. <\/p>\n
After the rescue, the girls were brought to Nepal and kept in a safe shelter, said Director Joshi. According to him, necessary counselling and protection is being provided to the girls keeping in mind their health and psychosocial condition. <\/p>\n
Further investigation into the incident is underway, Joshi said, adding that investigation is underway to find out how the girls were trafficked and who are involved in it. He said legal action would be initiated against the culprits after the investigation. According to Josi, cross-border surveillance and public awareness are necessary to reduce heinous crimes like human trafficking.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
