Kathmandu. President Ram Chandra Poudel has expressed concern over increasing arrears in public bodies and directed the stakeholders to maintain financial discipline and transparency. <\/p>\n
Receiving the annual report of the fiscal year 2081\/82 presented by the Office of the Auditor General for the fiscal year 2081\/82 BS, Poudel said that the irregularities in government expenditure have eroded the accountability and financial discipline of the public bodies. <\/p>\n
He stressed on the need for the public officials to be more responsible and accountable towards maintaining fiscal good governance by giving priority to arrears settlement. <\/p>\n
He expressed the belief that the issues raised in the report would make the bodies concerned and stakeholders more aware of their responsibilities. <\/p>\n
Stating that the role of the Office of the Auditor General was significant in maintaining financial discipline and transparency, President Poudel suggested that the office should be more proactive towards institutional and professional capacity building and maintaining internal good governance in days ahead. <\/p>\n
“The aspirations of the younger generation for sustainable peace, good governance, development and prosperity can be fulfilled only when economic discipline is maintained by discouraging irregular government expenditure,” Poudel said. <\/p>\n
As per the constitutional provision, the report submitted to the President will be presented to the Federal Parliament through the Prime Minister. He expressed his confidence that the issues of the report would be seriously discussed in the Federal Parliament and the appropriate conclusion would be reached. <\/p>\n
