Kathmandu. The CPN-UML is going to the Supreme Court challenging the report of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on the Gen-G movement. Issuing a press release today, General Secretary Shankar Pokharel said that all available legal remedies would be used as per the need. <\/p>\n
“If any constitutional question is raised, we will prepare to go to court for judicial review and, if necessary, use all available legal remedies,” the statement reads. \u2019<\/p>\n
The UML has concluded that the report is biased, ill-intentioned and conspiratorial. The report concluded that the government was motivated to accuse the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, then Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak and Communications Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung in a planned manner. <\/p>\n
The statement reads that a study group comprising legal practitioners and subject experts will be formed to carry out a thorough study on constitutional, legal and factual aspects of the commission’s report and its recommendations, and evaluate the biases, recommendations beyond jurisdiction and legal contradictions in the report. <\/p>\n
To make a detailed analysis of the constitutional, legal and procedural weaknesses of the report to ensure the rule of law, constitution and democratic values, to create an environment for building a common view through dialogue, discussion and collaboration with various political parties and stakeholders on different types of political, constitutional and democratic dimensions developed in the country. <\/p>\n
