Kathmandu. Pokhara\u2014Regular international commercial flights are to be operated from Pokhara to Dubai of the United Arab Emirates. Ticket bookings have been opened for the flight which is scheduled to operate from September 23, 2026. <\/p>\n
The Pokhara International Airport was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on January 1, 2023. After a wait of about five decades, continuous pressure from Pokhareli people, the initiative of tourism entrepreneurs and the construction of this airport after different phases of struggle, this project is the pride of the Pokhara people. <\/p>\n
Regular international flights were not operated even after the airport came into operation. During this period, charter flights were operated to various destinations in China and Bhutan. Similarly, once in India, an air ambulance was used to transport patients. However, questions have been raised about the effective utilization of the airport due to lack of regular international commercial flights. <\/p>\n
With the operation of regular international flights to Dubai, Pokhara International Airport is believed to have been successful in opening the door of international air service as per its original objective. <\/p>\n
Pom Narayan Shrestha, immediate past chairman of Pokhara Tourism Council, said, “Pokhara International Airport is not just an infrastructure project. Although the construction of the airport was completed, the expected achievement could not be achieved due to lack of regular international flights. \u2019<\/p>\n
The regular flights to Dubai is a historic achievement for tourism, trade and economic development of Pokhara, Gandaki Province and the entire Nepal. <\/p>\n
According to him, ticket bookings have already been opened for the flight which is scheduled to operate from September 23, 2026. Interested passengers can book tickets through the official website of the respective airline or through the nearest travel agency. <\/p>\n
With the operation of regular air service from Pokhara to Dubai, it is expected that new opportunities will be created for tourism promotion, expansion of trade, foreign employment and international movement. It is also believed that there will be easy air access to various countries of the world via Dubai. <\/p>\n
Shrestha said that the beginning of regular international commercial flights from Pokhara is not only seen as an expansion of air service but also as a historic step to further strengthen Pokhara’s international identity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
