Kathmandu. CPN-UML Chief Whip Ain Mahar has termed the incumbent government as ‘people killed and poor’. <\/p>\n
He accused the government of trying to solve the problem by displacing the poor rather than reducing poverty.\u00a0 Mahar said that the policy adopted by the government, especially in the name of squatter management, was inhuman, cruel and motivated by class. <\/p>\n
Accusing the government of formulating the policy based on the wrong perception that poor citizens are the obstacles to the urban civilisation, he said, “This government is a government totally against the people and the poor.” It understood that the poor are the obstacles to urban civilization, which is very frightening from a class point of view. <\/p>\n
According to Mahar, there is no limit or measure of the government’s behavior towards the issue of landless squatters, adding that the government is focused on displacing the poor rather than the poor. <\/p>\n
In the conversation, he said that the government has become so inhuman and cruel in the context of squatters that it has no limit and measure. This makes it clear that this government is not a government of the people or of the poor. He did not try to eradicate poverty, but to solve the problem by removing the poor. “The policy of paying Rs 15,000 is wrong,” he said. <\/p>\n
At this time, the squatters kept in the holding center have been asked to move out of the house. They complain that they are under mental stress as they are repeatedly pressured to leave the place. They have also warned the government that if they are not rehabilitated, they will return to the old place and set up huts. <\/p>\n
Making it clear that the UML is with them on this issue, Mahar said that the problem of landless squatters is not only related to housing but also related to respect, livelihood and fundamental rights. <\/p>\n
Here is a matter of self-respect, self-respect and livelihood of a person. After settling in one place, they were doing business, business and profession in their own way. Today, all those things are missing. “Criminals and prisoners have been caught arbitrarily and taken to a place of their choice, and now they are being ordered to leave that place as well,” he said. <\/p>\n
