Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) parliamentary party leader Gyanendra Shahi has demanded that the government bring a legal arrangement to impose financial penalty on the state and related bodies for negligence on roads, traffic management and government services. <\/p>\n
Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday, Shahi said that the practice of bringing only the citizens under the ambit of the law should be ended and the law should make the state bodies equally responsible. <\/p>\n
He also proposed that the state should also pay Rs 100,000 fine if potholes are found on the road within 24 hours. <\/p>\n
Similarly, the concerned body should have to pay Rs 100,000 fine if the traffic lights are not repaired on time, Rs 50,000 if the traffic police behave rudely with the service seekers and Rs 50,000 if the street lights are not repaired at night. <\/p>\n
Shahi also demanded that the authorities concerned should be fined Rs 50,000 if they fail to provide driving license within seven days of passing the trial examination. <\/p>\n
He also urged the Ministry of Law and Parliamentary Affairs to bring legal provisions through the parliament to file cases against the concerned government bodies and construction companies for attempted murder in case of death of citizens due to bad condition of roads. <\/p>\n
“The state and law should not only punish the people, but there should be a law that makes both the people and the government equally responsible,” said Shahi. \u2019<\/p>\n
