Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Chairman of the Labour and Culture Party, Harka Sampang Rai, has said that rules and regulations should be followed equally by all in a democracy. <\/p>\n
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, he warned that democracy would plunge into anarchy if there was discrimination on the issue of abiding by the rules. <\/p>\n
He said that the House has also gradually started heading towards anarchy. The Speaker was of the view that the Speaker should play a role in ensuring the presence of the Prime Minister, ministers and government officials in the parliament regularly as per the constitution and regulations. <\/p>\n
“In a democracy, rules should be followed. If one person abides by the rules and the other does not, it will lead to chaos. \u2019<\/p>\n
Sampang also expressed concern over the growing abuse and abuse of freedom of expression on social media. He questioned that action would be taken against those abusing the prime minister and ministers, but there was no equal action against those threatening lawmakers. <\/p>\n
He said that he had received death threats and burnt down his house and lodged a complaint with the Cyber Bureau but no action was taken. He urged the leaders and cadres of all political parties to be alert to maintain dignity of expression. <\/p>\n
He also urged the government to be serious towards the agitation of visually impaired people. He said that their demand is not only allowance but also to provide employment opportunities for the work they can do. <\/p>\n
“They don’t want to sit down and eat. Their demand is that we can receive the phone, we can do the work while sitting, we should give them jobs,” Sampang said. <\/p>\n
He suggested that the government should start providing employment to the visually impaired citizens. He said that although it is not possible for everyone at once, it can be started with a few people gradually. <\/p>\n
Chairman Sampang also drew the attention of the government towards keeping the Buddha statue tied with a chain in Surkhet. He demanded that the Ministry of Home Affairs and the bodies concerned should investigate into the incident. <\/p>\n
Stating that the quality of construction of government plans is weak, he said that the presence of government technicians and representatives of contractors should be mandatorily in the site. <\/p>\n
“The tax paid by the people should not be misused. Government employees and contractors’ representatives should be mandatory at the construction site,” he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
