Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Gyanendra Bahadur Shahi has said there is no rule, power or position that is bigger than the life of citizens. <\/p>\n
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, he questioned the working style of the government, saying that the law should be applied equally to all. <\/p>\n
Lawmaker Shahi accused those who used to say that a person’s life is bigger than Singha Durbar, are now saying that rules are bigger than human life. He said it was a crime to create a situation where the life of a citizen would end. <\/p>\n
“Killing people is not just about shooting. “Robbing a citizen of his means of survival, cutting off his livelihood, forcing him to commit suicide is a crime akin to shooting,” he said. <\/p>\n
Clarifying that they have not demanded that parking on the road should be allowed haphazardly, he urged the government to stop the misleading publicity. <\/p>\n
He questioned why action would be taken against the general public for violating traffic rules but not against high-ranking people driving without wearing seat belts. <\/p>\n
Lawmaker Shahi questioned the procedure adopted while taking Ganesh Nepali to the hospital. He objected that the patients with serious burns should have been taken to the treatment centre in ambulance but were taken like criminals. <\/p>\n
He said the state should answer whether proper treatment was provided on time and whether it was in a condition to take him to India for treatment. <\/p>\n
