Kathmandu. Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Gita Gurung has urged the Prime Minister to be accountable to the parliament and should be present in the parliament and answer the questions raised by the lawmakers. <\/p>\n
Speaking at the meeting of the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Gurung demanded that the Speaker should rule the Prime Minister to present the Prime Minister in the House of Representatives, saying the Prime Minister is accountable to the Parliament as per the House of Representatives Regulations. <\/p>\n
“We are constantly searching for the honorable prime minister in the parliament. The House of Representatives Regulations have made the Prime Minister accountable to the Parliament, so I demand a ruling through the Speaker for the Prime Minister to be present in the House and answer the questions of the MPs. <\/p>\n
Honourable Prime Minister, you are the representative of our generation, the youth across the country had high hopes from you. As a result of that hope, today you are in the responsibility of the Prime Minister. Faith in you is not just a belief in an individual, it is a belief in a young leader. <\/p>\n
We all expected leadership to be different from the old political style. But today, sadly, that hope is slowly turning into despair. The incidents that are happening day by day in the country are increasing despair rather than hope. \u2019<\/p>\n
She said although the younger generation had high expectations from the Prime Minister to the leadership, the recent activities have turned that hope into disappointment. She also accused the government of trying to divert the issue and perform “cheap stunts” instead of answering serious issues. <\/p>\n
Claiming that the government did not make adequate preparations to remove the squatters, Gurung questioned the relocation of the displaced people to areas where there is a risk of inundation. Accusing the government of not being sensitive towards the management of squatters, she said that many people had lost their lives due to this. She also expressed condolences to the victims and demanded an impartial investigation into the incident. <\/p>\n
Lawmaker Gurung said the government should be responsible towards the incidents of suicides that took place after the removal of squatters’ settlements. Stating that the suicides were a result of the state’s failed policy, she demanded that the government should be serious about protecting and providing relief to the affected families. <\/p>\n
She said the growing frustration among the youths and cases of self-immolation in recent period have raised question on the government’s working style. Referring to the incidents of self-immolation in Mugu, Sarlahi and Kathmandu, she said it was worrisome that youths could not see future in the country. <\/p>\n
Gurung blamed inflation, economic sluggishness, attraction towards foreign employment, civil insecurity and pressure on freedom of expression, adding that Karnali, Dalit, Madhesi, women, indigenous communities and marginalized communities were feeling insecure from the state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
