The PepsiCola Football Stadium at Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32 is being upgraded in full swing. With the financial investment of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, 11 &#8216;A&#8217; side artificial grass fields are being constructed here. <\/p>\n<p>Engineer at the Public Works Department of KMC, Arjun Aryal, said that the carpeting of the ground has been completed and the sand is yet to be filled. According to him, it will take two more months to complete all the work of upgrading the ground including filling the sand. &#8220;You have to put sand on the carpet. It will take time to put the sand in the cold season,&#8221; he said. Now most of them will be done in two months. \u2019<\/p>\n<p>According to him, sand is used in the field to prevent water from stagnating, to make it durable and to make it easy to play the game. Artificial grass is made of plastic fibers. Therefore, the fibers are kept vertical and stable by adding sand. It does not allow the grass to wrinkle or uproot. <\/p>\n<p><div><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p><div> Because the sand makes the field softer, the risk of injury is reduced when a player runs or falls. It also makes the speed and bounce of the ball similar to that of natural grass. Apart from this, the rainwater drains out quickly, so the water does not accumulate in the ground and it is easy to conduct the game. Engineer Aryal said that a drain will be constructed to prevent water accumulation and spoilage of the ground. <\/p>\n<p>The metropolis had forwarded the process in the fiscal year 2081\/82 BS with the objective of making the dusty and unmanaged ground systematic by using artificial grass. Under this, grasslands were started in 6 places of Kathmandu including Pepsi-Cola. <\/p>\n<p>Grassland construction works are going on in Bansbari, Social Ground of Naya Bazaar, Bagmati corridor of Balkhu and Ganeshthan of Chabahil under the same contract.
