Kathmandu. A committee led by Prime Minister’s Health Advisor Dr JP Agrawal has reached Dhangadhi to hold talks with Dr Govinda KC, who has been staging his 24th hunger strike in Dhangadhi. <\/p>\n
The committee comprises Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Sports Chudamani Poudel and Health Secretary as members. The three government representatives, including coordinator Agrawal, met Dr. Agrawal on Saturday. Although KC met normally, formal talks will take place today. <\/p>\n
Dr. Dr Govinda KC’s health assistant According to Amrit Jaisi, the government team had only a general meeting with Dr KC on Saturday. He said the formal talks would take place on Sunday. He says that it will be important to know how the government team presents the demand as there is a clear demand from KC. <\/p>\n
“Dr. It is important how the government presents itself and how serious it is on the issues raised by Shaw,” he said. \u2019<\/p>\n
Putting forth a 7-point demand. Dr KC has been staging hunger strike since Thursday. Dr. Dr KC has demanded that the vice-chancellor and registrar of the martyr Dasharath Chand University of Health Sciences should be removed and a new one should be appointed. <\/p>\n
They have demanded immediate scrapping of the decision or proposal to cut scholarships through the Medical Education Commission and increase seats in private colleges without meeting the criteria and infrastructure. KC’s third demand is to implement the legal provisions of the Act to make medical education completely non-profit. <\/p>\n
KC has also demanded implementation of written agreements reached with the erstwhile government, protection of health rights of people in border areas, fair investigation into the vandalism and violence during the Jenji agitation on September 7 and 24 and bringing the culprits to book. <\/p>\n
