Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has refused to accept the budget allocated by the government for the maintenance and preservation of Koirala’s residence in Biratnagar. <\/p>\n
The government has refused to accept the Rs 20 million allocated for the renovation and conservation of Koirala Niwas in the budget for the fiscal year 2083\/84. <\/p>\n
In a letter addressed to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation on August 20, Shekhar said that he was morally unable to accept the amount allocated for the renovation and maintenance of Koirala residence. <\/p>\n
In the letter, he expressed his gratitude for allocating budget for the protection of the birthplace of BP Koirala, the first democratically elected Prime Minister and leader of the democratic movement. <\/p>\n
Koirala’s residence at Biratnagar Metropolitan City-7, which was built by Krishna Prasad Koirala around a century ago, was set on fire during the Genji movement. <\/p>\n
