More than 12,000 rescued from floods

Kathmandu. A total of 5,083 people are still out of contact due to the devastating floods in Bhotekoshi of Rasuwa district on May 23.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 12,038 people have been rescued from flood-hit areas so far.

More than three thousand of the rescued people are staying in various holding centers, according to the authority. The rescued people are being kept in a safe place and necessary healthcare, food and other basic services are being provided.

According to the NRA, the concerned bodies including the security agencies have been mobilized for the search and rescue of the missing persons.

Similarly, 1,259 dead bodies have been recovered from Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Chitwan, Gorkha, Tanahun, Nawalparasi East and Nawalparasi West. So far, 5,384 people have been treated for the floods. The NRA has said that priority has been given to the treatment of the injured and sick along with rescue and relief in the flood-affected areas.

The government has intensified search, rescue, treatment and relief operations as many people are still out of contact and many people have suffered huge loss of life and property following the Bhotekoshi floods.
