Heavy rain disrupts dozens of highways across the country

Kathmandu. Major highways and road sections of various provinces have been affected due to floods and landslides triggered by incessant rains across the country.

According to the details made public by Nepal Police, the road sections have been completely obstructed due to landslides at several places while vehicular movement has been restricted on some sections at night in view of the risk.

Vehicular movement along the Kanti Highway has been completely disrupted due to landslides at Pandur and Takurche of Bhatte Danda of Bagmati rural municipality-3 and Bikhendhara of Godavari municipality-6.

The Mid-Hill Highway section under Khotang district has been completely obstructed. The Mid-Hill Highway road section at Dobhane Khola of Yangbarak Rural Municipality-2 has been completely obstructed.

The road section which was blocked due to a landslide at Dhulikhel municipality-8, Pakucha along the Araniko Highway has been restored.

Similarly, one-way traffic has been obstructed due to landslides at Krishnabhir, Tingrangkhani and Jogimara-Majhimtar turn of Benighat Rorang rural municipality along the Prithvi Highway.

CHITWAN — Vehicular movement along the Narayangadh-Muglin road section has come to a complete halt until another notice is issued.

However, only small vehicles and motorcycles are allowed to ply in Dharapani of Ichhakamana rural municipality-4 along the Prithvi Highway.

The Siddhicharan Highway and other internal roads in Solukhumbu district have been closed due to the high risk of floods and landslides. Due to the forecast of heavy rain from 6 pm on May 8 to 12 noon, all vehicles and people except essential vehicles and pedestrians have been completely banned from 6 pm to 6 am.

All the internal roads, including the Mid-Hill Highway in Bhojpur district, have been closed to prevent possible damage. It has been decided that emergency vehicles (ambulances, fire trucks, food grains) will be allowed to operate from 16:40 pm to 5 am from 19 pm to 5 am in coordination with the nearest police unit.

All roads in Ilam district have been closed due to the risk of possible floods and landslides. Vehicular movement has been banned on the Mechi Highway and Mechi Corridor from 17 pm to 11 am from 19 pm to 5 am on the night.

The Mid-Hill Highway in Khotang district has been closed due to the risk of possible floods and landslides. Vehicular movement on the Mid-Hill Highway has been banned from 19 pm to 5 am from May 24 to 9. Similarly, the Mid-Hill Road section at Halesi Tuwachung Municipality-1, Katuwa has been completely obstructed due to a landslide at 9:15 am on June 24.

The Katari-Ghurmi (Siddhicharan Lokmang) in Udayapur district has been closed due to the risk of possible floods and landslides. Vehicular movement on the road has been banned from 17 pm to 5 am from 8th to 12th.

Tumbewa Village of Panchthar District. Pa. 2 Due to the flooding in Navakhola, the Tamor-Corridor road section has been completely blocked since 8:55 am on the 8th. Similarly, Yangwarak Ga. Pa. 2 The road has been completely blocked due to a landslide on the Mid-Hill Highway at Dovan Khola at 8:30 am on Thursday.
