Kathmandu. The Election Commission (EC) has made public the personal details of the candidates who have filed their candidacies for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 4.
The Election Commission has made public the details of the candidates who have filed their nomination under the election system as the election law requires the personal details of all the candidates who have filed candidacy for the election.
The details submitted along with the nomination papers have been made public through the EC’s website as per Clause 22 (10) of the Election of the Member of the House of Representatives Directive-2082.
According to Election Commission Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the personal details of the candidates have been made public to make the election process transparent, fair and credible.
The EC believes that this will help the voters, stakeholders bodies, media and the general public to get the necessary information about the candidates in an easy and easy manner.
A total of 3,486 candidacies have been filed in 165 electoral constituencies across the country under the first-round election system. The filing of nominations was completed simultaneously across the country on January 6.
Of the total candidates, 3,089 are male, 396 are female and one is from other categories.
