. KATHMANDU — The Election Commission (EC) has brought into operation the Joint Election Operation Centre in view of the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives scheduled for March 4. The centre has been set up on the EC premises with the objective of resolving any problems that arise in the election.
According to the Election Commission, the Joint Election Operation Centre (JOPC) has officially come into operation from Sunday.TAG_OPEN_p_7 Acting Chief Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari inaugurated the center.
Acting Chief Election Commissioner Bhandari said the Centre would work to resolve any problems in any electoral area.TAG_OPEN_p_6 He said that the problems that cannot be resolved at the polling station will be resolved from the Joint Election Operation Center.
The centre headed by the commission’s secretary will have joint secretaries at the Ministry of Home Affairs and officers from the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and the National Investigation Department.TAG_OPEN_p_5 The Centre has stated that it would collect, analyse and take necessary decisions immediately related to the elections.
