52 new TB patients found in Khajura Rural Municipality of Banke in six months

Kathmandu. Khajura Rural Municipality in Banke district is found at high risk of tuberculosis. According to the health department, 52 new tuberculosis patients have been found in the rural municipality in the past six months.

According to Laxmi KC Oli, chief of the Health Section, ward no 8 has the highest number of tuberculosis patients (14) while ward no 1 and 6 have zero tuberculosis patients.TAG_OPEN_p_5 In other wards, 2-7 TB patients have been found.

Chief Administrative Officer of the rural municipality, Dil Bahadur Poudel, said that tuberculosis is highly contagious and it is necessary to diagnose and treat it on time.TAG_OPEN_p_4 He stressed on the need of adopting precaution at the community level as the infection can spread from a single tuberculosis patient to 10-15 people.

The health department has suggested checking up at health institutions without delay if you have a prolonged cough, taking medicines regularly, not leaving the treatment incomplete, wearing masks in crowded places, maintaining ventilation and eating nutritious food.TAG_OPEN_p_3
