Fake election manifesto in Barshaman’s name: Complaint filed at Election Commission and Cyber Bureau

. KATHMANDU: A complaint has been lodged at the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police and the Election Commission (EC) on charge of creating a fake election manifesto in the name of Barshaman Pun ‘Ananta’.

Pun has filed a complaint with the concerned body through his secretariat, accusing him of misusing his name to disseminate false and misleading material.TAG_OPEN_p_9 Pun is contesting in the House of Representatives election scheduled for March 4 from his home district Rolpa.

TAG_OPEN_p_8 The complaint states that the content circulated through social media is highly misleading, untrue and with the intention of character assassination. “Such activities have misled voters and hampered the free and fair election process,” the statement said. The complaint states that the offence against public morality and decency was violated by the Electronic Transactions Act, 2063 BS and the election code of conduct.

The manifesto made public in the name of Pun has included impractical and misleading issues like declaring Rolpa district headquarters and Sulichaur as red light area, constructing an international airport in Badachaur, establishing a university and campus in every ward of the district, constructing a bigger hospital than Bir Hospital at Madichaur football ground and operating metro rail and cable car.TAG_OPEN_p_5
