Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: CPN (UML) Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that the country’s independence, democracy and prosperity are the top priorities of the country. Speaking at a program organized to release the manifesto of the CPN-UML, he said that the country was the first priority. Stating that the country’s land, independent democracy, constitution, self-respect, peace and order were paramount, he made it clear that no other issue could be more important than these.
“Country is our priority. The country’s land and independence, democracy, constitution, self-respect, peace and order are above all and nothing else. We are in favour of construction. We are not in favour of provocation. We are the protectors of independence and sovereignty. We want to bring the society back to peace and order. We are far from a thoughtless and directionless stand. Our destination is clearly ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’. ’
He said that he was in favour of building his party and staying away from the politics of provocation. Stating that they were standing as the defenders of freedom and sovereignty, they pledged to return the terror-dwelling society towards peace and order. Claiming that the party is away from a thoughtless and directionless stance, he said the party’s motto was ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’.
Chairman Oli also said that the country was not formed by the conflict between the generations and the country was not built through conflict. Energy of youths is essential for nation building, he said, adding that one can climb even difficult mountains with passion, dream and courage. But at the same time, the vision, wisdom, restraint and guidance of the experienced generation would also be indispensable, he said. Describing youth as ‘fire’ and experience as ‘light’, he said fire needs direction and light needs energy. He argued that the future of the country would be bright only through the combination of ‘fire and light’.
“This country is not made up of generational conflict. Conflict doesn’t work. The energy of the youth is needed to build the country. With that passion, that dream, that courage, even difficult mountains can be climbed. But at the same time, we need the vision of an experienced generation. That wisdom, that restraint, that guidance that gives confidence when the youth stumbles. Young people say fire, but fire needs direction, otherwise it will burn. Experience is enlightening. But light also needs energy, otherwise the light will go out on its own. The future of this country can be bright only when ‘fire and light’ combined. ’
Stating that politics is the medium to unite, unite and move ahead by taking all generations along, he claimed that the upcoming election is not a referendum of generation but between building and dismantling the country. He also said that this election is a struggle between national betrayal and self-respect.
