Kathmandu. A leader from Dailekh has entered the same party four times. Nepali Communist Party (NCP) central committee member Tarka Bahadur Shahi has rejoined the CPN-UML. CPN-UML Secretary and Karnali Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel welcomed Shahi into the party on Wednesday.

Shahi was once involved in NWPP politics. In between, he joined the UML in the early 50s through the Congress. Later, when the UML split, he became a ML. Shahi joined the CPN (Unified Socialist) led by Madhav Kumar Nepal after the split in 2078 BS.

In the meantime, he again joined the UML during the local elections of 2079. In Kartik 2080, when Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ was the Prime Minister, he reached the Prime Minister’s Office and joined the Maoists.

The Maoists now exist in the name of the Communist Party of Nepal. He was a central member of the party from Dailekh.

“He wanted to contest the House of Representatives election from Dailekh-2 on March 4,” said a leader, adding, “But his always unstable politics has not made much impact on the people. ’

He joined the UML for the fourth time on Wednesday after the party denied him a ticket.

Shahi, who is known as a warrior of the Dailekh communist movement, has been joining the party along with his wife Sushmita Singh.

Singh was elected the vice-chair of Thatikandh Rural Municipality in 2074 BS on a UML ticket. “There is no one behind him, he takes only his wife with him,” said a UML leader from Dailekh. ’
