Kathmandu. The first meeting of the House of Representatives, which was elected on March 4, is taking place on Thursday. The first meeting was held at the multipurpose hall of the under-construction Federal Parliament Building at Singha Durbar.

The meeting was chaired by senior-most member of the House of Representatives, Arjun Narsingh KC. At the beginning of the meeting, the CPN-UML lawmakers stood from their seats and obstructed the meeting. After this, Speaker KC gave time to UML lawmaker Guru Baral to speak.

Baral has demanded the government to release CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak today.

In the meeting, Chairman KC conveyed a message from President Ram Chandra Poudel conveying the appointment of Balendra Shah of Rastriya Samajwadi Party as the Prime Minister. After that, seven leaders put forth their views on party lines as per the pre-scheduled program. Rastriya Samajwadi Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane, Nepali Congress’ Bhishma Raj Angdembe, CPN-UML’s Ram Bahadur Thapa Badal, Nepali Communist Party’s Barsha Man Pun, Labour and Culture Party Chairman Harka Raj Rai (Sampang), Rastriya Prajatantra Party’s Gyanendra Bahadur Shahi and independent lawmaker Mahabir Pun also expressed their views in the meeting.

After this, Home Minister Sudan Gurung presented the ordinance issued by the erstwhile government in the parliament.

After that, some condolence motions were passed and the next meeting was held on April 22.
