189 arrested in Kathmandu in a week

Kathmandu. A total of 189 people have been arrested from Kathmandu in a week’s time. KATHMANDU: The District Police Range, Kathmandu, has arrested 150 people in a special campaign yesterday.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, who is also the spokesperson of the Range, said that those involved in working against the law by acting as middlemen, indulging in hooliganism in different areas and harassing passengers were arrested.

According to him, the operation has been launched against those harassing public service delivery, indulging in middlemen activities in public places, bus parks, airports, transport offices and hooliganism in different places. Further investigation into the case is underway. Spokesperson Bhattarai said legal action would be taken on the basis of their involvement.

Central Spokesperson of Nepal Police and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Avi Narayan Kafle, said that the police have also issued circulars to take action against those involved in middlemen, harassing and misbehaving with people in different names.
