Kathmandu. Kathmandu. The Federation of Trade Unions of Nepal (GEFONT) has organized a rally in Kathmandu on the occasion of May Day 2083. The rally was organised with the slogan ‘Right to Work, Respect for Labour, Enhancement of Skills, Progress with Technology – Prosperity with Workers’.
The rally went through various places in Kathmandu. The participants chanted slogans demanding guarantee of workers’ rights, fair wages, social security and safe workplace. GEFONT officials stressed on the need to achieve economic prosperity through the protection of workers’ rights and technology-friendly skill development. They said that the state and the private sector should adopt worker-friendly policies.
On the occasion of May Day celebrated on May 1 every year, various programs are organized in Nepal and around the world.
