Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Police have arrested four persons on the charge of swindling hundreds of thousands of rupees by alluring the migrant workers. The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested them from different places of Kathmandu and Lalitpur and made them public.
The arrestees have been identified as Dipesh Gurung, 30, and Saugat Gurung, 24, of Barpak Sulikot, Gorkha and currently residing in Kathmandu-26. According to the police, they duped eight victims of a total of Rs 8,622,570 on the pretext of sending them to Turkey. They were arrested from Samakhusi area of Kathmandu on May 5.
Similarly, 48-year-old Surya Prakash Khejum of Panchthar Phidim was arrested on the charge of cheating a victim of Rs 950,000 on the pretext of sending him to Cyprus. He was arrested from Godavari of Lalitpur.
Police have arrested 33-year-old Shanti Shrestha of Bhumlu of Kavrepalanchowk on the charge of cheating people of Rs 193,000 on the pretext of sending them to Lithuania. He was arrested from Gyaneshwor of Kathmandu on May 6, said Information Officer of the Office Superintendent of Police Rameshwor Karki.
The police investigation revealed that all the arrested youths had lured the unemployed youths with lucrative salaries for a long time and went out of contact after taking the money. They were arrested on the basis of the complaint of the victims and have been sent to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal for further investigation and action, police said.
