2,319 absconding defendants arrested in a month

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal Police have arrested 2,319 absconding defendants in various cases across the country in April last year.

Of them, 12 were arrested from the Central Investigation Bureau, 366 from Kathmandu Valley Police Office, 326 from Koshi Province, 730 from Madhesh Province, 199 from Bagmati Province, 204 from Gandaki Province, 330 from Lumbini Province, 68 from Karnali Province and 84 from Sudurpaschim Province.

During this period, the defendants were sentenced to 825 years, 2 months and 25 days in prison.

A fine of Rs 21,53,69,110 has also been recovered from them.
