Let’s turn youths’ anger into nation-building: Rabi Lamichhane

Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has said that the Jenji agitation that took place a year ago was a clear ‘letter of disapproval’ to the traditional political style.

Issuing a press release on the occasion of completion of one year of the historic agitation of September 7 and 24, President Lamichhane said that the agitation was not called by any particular party but was a completely spontaneous awakening.

Paying rich tributes to the martyrs who lost their lives during the movement and the police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty, he said, “It is the most painful moment to see the blood of the younger generation being shed while speaking the voice of change. May what happened in this country on September 23 and 24 should never be repeated.” ’

He assured that the state would fulfill its responsibility of providing full treatment, long-term rehabilitation and proper care to the families of the martyrs.

Lamichhane said that time has put them in a place where they would answer every question asked by the youth from the streets yesterday. Appealing to the civil society and the general public to continue to be constructive, he said, “Let the ruthless review of our performance continue. But let us not allow the narrative of despair to be established in the general psychology.” ’

Calling on all to unite to transform citizen’s anger into the power for nation building, he expressed commitment that they would not deviate even an inch from the path of rule of law, equitable prosperity and national self-respect drafted by the movement.
