Shekhar Koirala says he adopted centrist ideology to avoid party split

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has said that he has adopted a centrist stance to avoid a split in the party.

Speaking at a meeting of party cadres and cadres at Sundarharaicha in Morang constituency-6 on Thursday, leader Koirala said he chose the calm and gentle side to save the party.

Stating that the party has moved ahead for the election to the House of Representatives, leader Koirala said the election would give a clear outlet to the country.

On the occasion, leader Koirala clarified that the party could have split had I attended the special general convention. I have taken the middle path so that the party does not split. ’

Stating that the special general convention was the party’s process, Koirala said, “It is a process of the party. Today, Dila (Dr. Dila Sangraula) and I are in the same place, we are walking together in the election race. So, let’s not go to the convention as the issue of the general convention is over. Koirala said that he was focused on making policies and making people’s lives easier while he was in the role of parliamentarian for the welfare of the region and country before the Jenji movement.

“When I was a lawmaker, I spoke against corruption in parliament and in favour of good governance. I fought inside and outside Parliament. During the discussion, leader Koirala said that the people of the region had not bowed their heads in the national politics. He said that the best option now is to give a way out to the party by uniting the party rather than splitting the party. He said that he has taken the middle path as it is their responsibility to take the party together in the election without splitting it.

During the meeting, leader Koirala stressed on the need to focus on the election by accepting the things that happened in the party in the past.

Stating that the election would give a way out to the country, he said that all should play a role together to make the NC victorious this time.
