Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party (Rastriya Swatantrik Party) leader Dr. Birendra Shrestha has filed his candidacy for the House of Representatives. He has formally filed his candidacy for the election scheduled for March 4. Shrestha, who has made Panchami Bazaar his ancestral home, has intensified his election campaigning across the district after announcing his candidacy.
Known as a singer and engineer, Dr. Shrestha is also an experienced person in the hydropower sector. He has worked as a project manager in various hydropower projects. Earlier, he had been representing the Nepali Congress and joined the active politics of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).
Shrestha, who is currently busy in the election campaign, said that he has filed his candidacy with the aim of building a new future for the society. “An engineer’s pen not only draws the map but also the future of the society,” he said, urging the voters to vote on the bell symbol and help in the creation of a new blueprint for change.
Shrestha, who is an electronic engineer, had played a leading role in the production of 5 MW of electricity from Phawakhola Hydropower Project based in Taplejung. Similarly, 6 MW of electricity was generated from the Upper Phawakhola Hydropower Project under his leadership.
In Taplejung, Nepali Congress’s Gajendra Tumyahang, CPN-UML’s Kshitij Thebe, Nepal Communist Party (NCP)’s Khel Prasad Budachhetri, Mangol National Organization’s Santa Limbu, Sanghiya Loktantrik Manch’s Muksam Labung, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP)’s Indra Thapa, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP)’s Arun Lecharbo and Nepal Janamukti Party have filed their candidacies.
Similarly, Suntosh Rai of Labour Culture Party, Kritiman Maden of Ujyalo Nepal, Surya Tamu of JSP Nepal and Narapati Poudel of CPN (Maoist Centre) are also in the fray.
