Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — Martyrs’ Day is being observed across the country today by organizing various programmes in honour of the martyrs who laid down their lives for the country and people. The morning procession with the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force’s band, march pass and a buggy bearing the martyrs’ pictures converged into a condolence meeting at the Martyrs Garden, Lainchaur after gathering at the Shanti Vatika today.
Prime Minister, ministers, high-level government officials, people’s representatives and chiefs of security bodies are expected to attend the meeting. The government has declared a public holiday on the occasion of Martyrs’ Day. The Martyrs Day is celebrated by organizing a week-long programme in honour of the brave sons who lost their lives in various movements in favour of democracy, nation and freedom.
