Parbat Province Hospital in crisis due to government’s failure to pay health insurance

Kathmandu. The only well-equipped state hospital in the district is in crisis as it has not been able to pay the health insurance amount for a long time. The hospital has not received more than three crore rupees for health insurance and dialysis, according to Chief Medical Superintendent Dr. Dhundiraj Poudel informed.

Purchase of medicines and equipment, payment of salary and allowances of employees and other regular activities have been affected due to non-payment.TAG_OPEN_p_5 According to him, the crisis has started to arise even though it was managed from the fund of the hospital management committee for some time.

Around TAG_OPEN_p_4 45 per cent of the health insurance subscribers in the district receive health insurance services from the hospital. Chairman of the Hospital Management Committee, Yaya Bahadur Pariyar, said that the hospital has not been able to get the amount fixed by the government every year.

TAG_OPEN_p_3 A few days ago, the Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Sudha Gautam had received a memorandum to provide the insurance amount during the inspection of the hospital. Minister Gautam said that hospitals across the country are facing problems due to non-payment of insurance bills and the government is managing budget from different sources.
