Ex-minister Jitendra Dev quits UML

. Constituent Assembly member and former minister Jitendra Dev has quit the CPN-UML. Issuing a press release today, he said he left the UML because he disagreed with the tendency of taking the party towards individualism, deification and running it in an autobitrary and discriminatory manner.

Dev of Saptari was active in the UML for a long time.TAG_OPEN_p_7 Later, he joined the Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) led by Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar and became a member of the Constituent Assembly. After the merger with the Democratic Congress, Dev became a member of the National Assembly from the Nepali Congress.

He returned to the UML on July 17, 2081 after his term as a member of the National Assembly ended on March 20, 2080.TAG_OPEN_p_6 When he was the vice-chairman of the UML, he was known as an intellectual youth and experienced leader in the party’s sister organization, the Democratic National Youth Association (NYC).

Despite some controversies, he remained in the UML. But with the passage of time, he has decided to quit the party after growing dissatisfied with the party’s autocratic tendency, individualism and decision-making process.

In a statement, Dev said that the political trend now will be left-leaning. He also thanked party chairman KP Sharma Oli for making the party powerful and confident.
