RPP’s general secretary proposes to change its name, election symbol and leadership

Kathmandu. The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has begun discussions on party restructuring. The party, which had won 1 seat under the first-past-the-post (FPTP) and four under proportional representation (PR) category in the March 4 elections, has started discussions for restructuring after the election results.

General Secretary Sharad Raj Pathak has said that the discussion on party restructuring should be intensified through social media.

“There is an urgent need for a comprehensive restructuring of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) if it is to be transformed from a state of collapse to a mere national party to a credible and powerful, interventionist and transformative party in national politics,” Pathak wrote on Facebook.

For this, the party’s name, election symbol, review of leadership from the center to the lower unit and necessary changes were necessary, he said.

He claimed that although there is no big problem in the agenda of RPP, there is a problem in the thinking and working style of the leaders. “I may be subjected to severe abuse for writing in public, but I have written this comment without giving it a message,” he said, adding, “There is no major problem in the agenda of RPP in my unsolicited evaluation.”

The problem is in our thinking and working style. The problem lies in the powerful tendencies within the party, he said, adding that the problem lies in the neglect and disregard of the political dimensions of the modern era.

“It will be difficult for the party to find a candidate who can influence the general voters in the upcoming local and provincial elections, except in exceptional places,” Pathak said. General Secretary Pathak has also demanded that the issues raised by him be initiated at the grassroots level of the party.
