Kathmandu. The government has extended the custody of CPN-UML Chairman and then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and then Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, who were arrested on the recommendation of the Gen-G movement probe report.
According to Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, Superintendent of Police (SP) at the District Police Range, Bhadrakali, the writer will be physically present at the District Attorney’s Office and Oli will be remanded in custody through virtual method if the doctors do not give him permission. A police team has reached the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) to inquire about Oli’s health.
“If we can’t bring him, we will inform the public prosecutor’s office, they can ask us to do it virtually,” he said.
The police had presented Oli and the writer to the court through the District Attorney’s Office on Sunday seeking 10-day custody for further investigation. However, District Court Judge Ananda Prasad Shrestha has given him 5 days in custody.
Bhattarai said that the deadline required for the investigation has been recommended again.
He said that the statement of UML Chairman Oli will be made within the deadline to be extended today. “If he can come today, we can do it today or on some other convenient day,” he said.
