Kathmandu. Women lawmakers of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN-UML) have lodged a complaint with the Cyber Bureau of Nepal Police regarding the recent cyberbullying of girls.
A total of 18 women lawmakers including CPN-UML secretary and member of the House of Representatives, Padma Kumari Aryal, central member and National Assembly member Ram Kumari Jhankri have filed a written complaint at the bureau based in Bhotahiti.
According to the complaint, the adolescent girls have been subjected to mental harassment through social media and various virtual platforms, especially due to cyberbullying, abuse, abusive behaviour, hatred and comments.
“This has taken a serious toll on their self-esteem, mental health and social security,” the complaint said. It has called for speedy and effective investigation into the complaints of cyberbullying and ensuring immediate security and justice to the victims.
