Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and Nepali Communist Party (NCP) Coordinator Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has drawn the attention of the government towards the acute shortage of chemical fertilizers seen in various parts of the country including Madhes. He demanded the government to ensure the supply of chemical fertilizers to the farmers, saying farmers were facing a big problem as they did not get chemical fertilizers easily even after the paddy plantation was completed.
He wrote on Facebook on Monday. “Although the government has committed to supply chemical fertilizers on time, the supply has not been easy in practice. Besides, there have been widespread complaints that even the available fertilizers have not been able to reach the farmers in an equitable manner due to black marketing and middlemen. ’
Stating that the process of importing fertiliser was complicated, it required preparation on time, he reminded that the then government under his leadership had ensured timely supply and distribution of fertilizer and also ensured budget for the next fiscal year.
“I urge the government to complete the import process of chemical fertilizers at the earliest and ensure adequate supply of fertilizers, to make preparations for the coming year and to distribute chemical fertilizers to the farmers in an easy, transparent and equitable manner by effectively controlling black marketees and middlemen,” he said.
