Govt should be serious about energy security and infrastructure reconstruction after floods: Kulman

Kathmandu. Chairman of Ujjyalo Nepal Party, Kulman Ghising, has demanded immediate rehabilitation of electricity and road infrastructure damaged by floods and landslides.

Ghising made this demand through his Facebook post on Tuesday.

He demanded the government to reconstruct the electricity transmission system in Trishuli and Kaligandaki corridors with priority.

President Ghising said that a clear action plan and necessary facilitation should be forwarded immediately to maintain the confidence of domestic and foreign investors

He wrote, “This is not just a problem of one region, it is a serious national challenge related to the lives of the citizens, national energy security and Nepal’s development journey. I draw the attention of the government to be serious about this.” ’

Saying the damage in the Trishuli and Kaligandaki corridor transmission lines has put pressure on the entire system of generation, transmission and supply, Ghising stressed on the need to accord high priority to identify the transmission infrastructures that can be rehabilitated immediately in case the demand management in coming winter becomes more challenging.

In times of crisis, we should not get entangled in petty issues, but give first priority to the energy security of the country, the lives of the affected citizens and the rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure. ’
