35 days left for election: EC’s policy to use Nepal-produced materials in the election this time

.  The Election Commission (EC) has adopted a policy to use Nepal-produced materials as far as possible for the upcoming elections to the House of Representatives. According to the EC, the policy has been adopted with the objective of making the election economical, transparent and promoting local production.

According to the EC, a total of 51 types of materials will be used for the election, out of which 37 types of materials will be purchased from the province and district level.TAG_OPEN_p_7 Commission’s Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai said that only 14 types of equipment would be purchased from the centre.

According to him, most of the central-level purchases will be made through the Salt Trading Company under the ‘G2G’ concept.TAG_OPEN_p_6 About Rs 6.75 crore worth of new materials have been purchased for the election while the remaining necessary materials will be reused from the old stock.

The commission has stated that it aims to reduce expenditure, increase transparency and encourage domestic production through the use of local materials.TAG_OPEN_p_5

The EC has already completed the process of registering candidacy, claiming and protesting and handing over election symbols for the upcoming elections scheduled for March 4.TAG_OPEN_p_4
