Kathmandu. KATHMANDU — The number of passengers leaving the Kathmandu Valley has increased in view of the upcoming elections. The number of voters leaving the Kathmandu Valley to cast their votes has increased in their respective home districts on the day of the election.

Deputy Superintendent of Traffic Police, Sunil Jung Shah, said that the trend of people leaving the Kathmandu Valley for the election continues even today. Public transport is packed and there are also people going by private vehicles.

More than 750,000 people have left the Kathmandu Valley so far, he said. This number is expected to increase further as some will leave today. Public and non-pass vehicles will not be allowed to ply from midnight tonight.

The government has banned the movement of vehicles until the voting ends tomorrow. The Traffic Police has increased the number of human resources to make the transportation system more safe and systematic. According to the traffic police, patrolling has been intensified on the highways keeping in mind the safety of the passengers and special surveillance has been kept in the areas as needed.

Transport entrepreneurs have urged the public to travel in a safe and composed manner, not to keep more passengers than capacity and to follow the traffic rules.
