Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Coordinator of Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said election is the only alternative to the country, which he believes would take the country on the path of stability and prosperity.
Talking to media persons after casting his vote in Chitwan, he expressed happiness over the successful completion of the election. He said it was the responsibility of all political parties, civil society, security bodies and the Election Commission to make the election successful. “This election is not only ordinary, but unusual and decisive for the future of the nation,” he said. He also appealed to all Nepalis to participate in the election with enthusiasm.
Speaking about the election results, he said there was no possibility of any political party getting a clear majority. According to him, the main competition is likely to be between the Communist Party of Nepal, Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and Rastriya Swatantra Party.
“This election was held at a difficult time and it was the responsibility of all the political parties, civil society, security agencies and the Election Commission to make it a success,” he said.
As you are aware, I and the party under my leadership have taken a firm stand from the very beginning that election is an option and nothing else. First of all, I am very happy that we have voted in the election today and now we are close to success. Secondly, making this election a success is a very important election for the nation and for the people, for stability and for starting the journey of prosperity ahead. It’s not just a normal election, it’s an unusual election. In that sense, I am happy that this election has now been successful.
I have just come out after voting, you all know that I am a candidate from Rukum East this time and I am going directly to Rukum East from here. Therefore, first of all, I would like to appeal to all the journalist friends to participate in this election actively, enthusiastically, and as a celebration, and the more the election goes ahead with the presence of more people, the more this process moves forward, the more participation there is, the more important the results will be for stability. So, I want to appeal to everyone. Now, rather than looking at the condition of the parties, look at me, journalist friends from the beginning, you know that the election had to be held successfully from the beginning.
The emphasis is that the election should be held in a fair, fair and rigging-free manner and the country should move forward according to the result. I don’t have much to say which party will come from. Still, I know if you’re curious, but I’m hoping that we’ll be better off with that. I have said many times that no one is in a position to come. Even if we look at the overall situation in our electoral system, I don’t see any of us getting a majority. Now, as far as I understand, there will be a competition between the four parties as to who will be the first, second, third and fourth parties. The main competition is between our party, Nepali Communist Party, Nepali Congress, UML and Rastriya Swatantra Party.
Let’s see tomorrow who will be the first and second ones. It is not in the interest of the country that the new and the old are being interpreted. We had to make a commentary on right and wrong, not new and old. I appeal to all of you journalists, this question is not new or old. Right and wrong. Who is in favour of the nation, who is in favour of the people, who is in favour of democracy and who is in favour of progress? You have to see who has the plan, what the program is. And on the basis of that, the new is old. Therefore, the current narrative of new and old is not in the interest of the country and democracy. Let’s all use our discretion. Let’s stand up for the right. Let’s stand on what is right, what is in favour of the country. ’
Expressing dissatisfaction over the ‘new and old’ party’s narrative which was in the news of late, Dahal argued that it was not in the interest of the country. He stressed on the need to define ‘right and wrong’ rather than new or old. Immediately after casting his vote in Chitwan, he left for his constituency Rukum East. He is contesting from Rukum East this time.
