Kathmandu. Minister for Home Affairs Om Prakash Aryal inspected the District Administration Office, Lalitpur on Sunday. The team led by Minister Aryal inspected the office’s service delivery, services provided to the citizens and working system related to the national identity card.
On the occasion, he said the government was committed to providing easy, easy and hassle-free service to the citizens in line with the age of information technology. According to him, integrated service delivery has been started through the national identity card ending the earlier trend of filling up different forms in different government bodies for the same type of details.
Earlier, the service recipients had to be present at the concerned unit to submit their biometric details by filling up the pre-enrollment form for the national identity card. This increased the time and cost. However, now that the Ministry of Home Affairs has maintained interconnection between the Centralized Citizenship Management Information System and the National Identity Management Information System, there is no need to fill up the pre-enrollment form.
According to the ministry, there are currently 12 public services. It has reduced duplicate work, saved the state exchequer and helped control economic and social crimes. Technology-friendly service delivery has been ensured by using the personal and biological details of the citizens by identifying and verifying the person on the basis of the national identity card number. It is expected to contribute significantly to the promotion of good governance.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, around 6,000 to 8,000 subscribers have been benefited from the system on a daily basis. Minister Aryal described it as an important achievement and a historic step towards reforming public services.
