Kathmandu. Astronauts on the Artemis 2 mission have been in constant contact with Earth as they travel to the Moon. But once they reach the back of the moon, they will be completely out of contact with the Earth for about 40 minutes around 4:30 a.m. Nepali time.
During this period, all four astronauts will remain in the dark of space. Where they will spend time with their personal experiences and feelings. Artemis pilot Victor Glover urged people around the world to use this time for positive thoughts and prayers. He said that everyone can wish them a safe journey while they are out of contact.
Astronaut Michael Collins had a similar experience during the Apollo 11 moon landing mission in 1969. At that time, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon. At that time, the astronauts were out of contact for about 48 minutes.
Even in the current Artemis mission, it is being discussed that this time of communication will be very stressful for scientists and engineers on Earth. Once contact is restored, astronauts are expected to send spectacular views from the moon.
On Thursday, NASA’s Artemis 2 mission carried four astronauts from Earth’s orbit to the Moon. Artemis 2 has started its journey to the moon after passing the ‘engine burn’ phase.
The spacecraft will land in the Pacific Ocean on April 10. The mission was carrying three American astronauts, Reed Wiseman, Christina Koch and Victor Glover, and a Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hanson.
